MA: Quinebagos

The Nutmeg Winnies extended an invitation to MA WIT to camp with them July 10-12 at Mineral Springs Campground, Stafford Springs, CT. There were 20 coaches in all with 6 from MA. In addition, we had new Quinebagos members Carl Marchand & Joanne Roberts from Rhode Island join us this weekend, making the MA chapter attendance at the campout seven coaches!

Several MA folks arrived on Wednesday while others arrived on Thursday and Friday. The weather report had called for the possibility of severe weather including high winds and heavy rains due to a tropical storm. However, we "lucked-out" and instead we watched the dark clouds pass us by throughout the weekend. We did have rain one night as we slept. The days were hot! Very hot! Folks enjoyed sitting in groups in the shade sharing information and catching up with each other all while masked and or social distancing.

In keeping with their camping style, CT kept the fire going throughout the weekend. Folks enjoyed toasting marshmallows, making "s’mores ala Geri" (secret ingredient? Use Keebler fudge ripple cookies instead of gram crackers & chocolate bars). In the evening everyone gathered around the campfire. Special thanks and kudos go out to Allan and Evy Dean of CT who were hosting the weekend.  They prepared a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast ("to go" in keeping with Covid-19 precautions) and a lovely ice cream sundae treat on Saturday.

Overall, it was a fun weekend thanks to our colleagues the Nutmeg Winnies!
