The September campout was held at Salisbury Beach Reservation from the 10th to 13th. There were eight member coaches in attendance. And a special welcome goes out to our guests Jeff & Kate Altschuler who were at a WIT campout for the first time. With the exception of showers on Thursday the weather was good albeit a touch of fall crept in. We finally made it through a weekend at Salisbury Beach without fog! Our days were spent in a variety of activities. The Martel's site was the hub and throughout the weekend it was where we met to chat, play games and have fires (with s'more's ala Geri of course!).

Salisbury is a great place to walk and several of us were able to get our steps in each day. Walks to the boat launch, river, beach and around the park were enjoyed. It was fun to watch the seals on the rocks on the river.  Some folks went fishing. Kite flying was a really fun activity. Did you know you can take a kite for a walk? Or that a flying kite can pull a wheelchair? Folks also participated in a bean bag toss tournament. Food is always an important part of our weekends. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we are not sharing meals but several folks took advantage of local restaurants by ordering takeout.

I was once again made aware this weekend of what a truly special group of people the WIT club folks are. One of our members got into a challenging situation with his coach. Within minutes other members were there to assist and support him. Fortunately, all ended well and we all walked away having been reminded that is always important to be aware of your surroundings. The weekend ended as they usually do (minus the hugs) with folks reluctantly packing up and looking forward to the next time we will be together again.
