MO: Chief Winnies

We left south Texas the 5th of March looking forward to Daylight Savings Time that weekend, and the promise of longer, warmer days. Since arriving home, our world has grown smaller and smaller as state and local government have tried to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Please stay inside, wash your hands, don’t hoard, and be kind to one another, at a distance. We’ll be camping again before you know it.
We were able to go ahead with the March luncheon at Pizza Ranch hosted by Dan & Peggy Sego. Twenty people showed up for a nice buffet lunch and a good time was had by all. We were so glad to see everyone.

During our meeting, we decided to take our camping schedule one day at a time, still hoping that we’d be able to hold our April shakeout. Unfortunately, we later heard from the Parks & Recreation Department that all county parks have been closed until May 15th. This included Jacomo RV Park where our campout was being held. Disappointing, but necessary. Also cancelled is the Winnie-MO-Tasca state meeting in Columbia which was to be held April 24-26. Our next campout is May 15-17, at Eldon, Missouri. This one is hosted by Glenn & Linda Commons and Emily Merchant at Majestic Oaks RV Park. We camped here last year and really enjoyed the park. If at all possible, Chris & I will be there. I can still do a lot of talking from six feet away. I do have some good news. New members, Rick & Mona Bradley, joined our club just last week. The Bradleys have a 2014 View Profile. Welcome Rick & Mona! Hopefully, we’ll see you soon.

Spring is here, flowers are blooming, and the grass is already too high. Looks like I’ll be spending my time at home working in the yard. More good news, all of the plants that we brought back from Texas are still alive, mostly.

One more thing, we still need volunteers to replace Nancy Colley as our secretary and newsletter editor. You can even wear her braids and feathered headband during the installation ceremony. Seriously, we need your help. Please consider it.

Stay safe. We hope to see you soon.
