Why did we buy from General RV in Ashland TWICE? Tamara Thompson… We just made a 23-hour round trip to see her for our recent travel trailer purchase. My wife and I had a list of criteria important to us for our next RV, and Tamara checked all the boxes, at a great price. Not only did she help us pick the perfect unit, she is a lot of fun, has a great sense of humor, and she keeps me in line. Prior to taking delivery, Chris and his expertise helped us to obtain reasonable financing, even with some negative equity. Joey made the completion of our financing paperwork a breeze. On the day of the delivery, Andrea was always smiling, had a great sense of humor, and kept us on schedule. Beth was very nice, as she patiently and thoroughly helped us throughout our walk-through. Danny and Eric went out of their way to review all of our warranty, service, accessory, and parts options. Finally, we couldn’t have made it home without Neil. He installed our weight distribution hitch, showed us how to properly use it, and was an all-around nice guy. We were so impressed with this entire team’s care as they help to educate their customers so that we get the most from our purchase. We will gladly recommend Tamara and her entire team to family, friends, and anyone interested in making an RV purchase.

What an experience. Lisa was very friendly and greeted us with a smile. There was an error on our VIP tags and she took the time to fix it. She kept us updated on each step of the way. Gail showed us around the RV and was very patient with all of our questions. If she did not know the answer, she researched it and circled back to us with the answer. She made the walk through very enjoyable. Jeff was super friendly and clearly worked for us to get into our dream RV. He took us through the lot and showed us all of the desired RV’s to look at. Once we decided “she was the one” he walked us through each step and made the trade as seamless as possible. Jeff has been our sales rep on the last 2 RV purchases and this is our 3rd. What sets him apart is calling us to follow up on the satisfaction of our purchase and even gave us a framed pic of our new RV during sunset. What a gem he is. Awesome job to all of you.

We just bought our first RV from General RV, Richmond. Thank you for making the experience both educational and pleasant. Matt Davis is your go to salesman for sure. Twice, on the coldest and windiest days in December, he spent the days being our RV escort. Matt did not waiver and was very patient (and cold). Also, on delivery day, Cody F. did a fantastic job taking us inside and outside the RV to inspect and work everything. He is truly knowledgeable and never made us feel stupid for asking questions. Cody was very accommodating and patient. John and Joey, the finance guys, did exactly what they were supposed to do as finance guys but they also listened to our needs and wants and accommodated as well. You expect pushy, but you get caring. Finally, Lisa was our greeter, our concierge, and our “make you feel right at home” person. Thank you all for taking great care and making our first RV buying experience pretty terrific! David and Scott

I originally left a 5-star review because of the great service from Hillary, Lisa, and Cody, but unfortunately, my experience with this business has been very disappointing. We purchased a used unit and scheduled a delivery date. On pick-up day, a state inspection was done on the unit, which had a bald tire on the front left that wasn’t there before. A bald tire is illegal in Virginia and doesn’t pass inspection, so how did this pass? During the inspection, the tech accidentally cracked the trim when closing the unit. While the tech was honest and admitted his mistake, the supervisor who came to speak with us was dismissive and talked over us. It wasn’t until I made a complaint that the conversation stopped, and we finally got clear answers about what would happen next. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve. We had previously asked for warranty information and pricing, but we didn’t get the price until after we signed the financial paperwork. We were also never shown the interest rates offered by multiple companies; Jonathan simply picked the best one for us. Our credit score was checked through just two companies—General RV and Bank of America—and we were not given a chance to choose. To make matters worse, my husband noticed his name was incorrect on the paperwork, which we had to point out. A week later, we were told that the parts had arrived and called to check the status. When I spoke with Lisa, she claimed that the trim issue had been resolved with a replacement part from another unit, but no proof of this was provided. I also asked for the service history of the unit since General RV took possession in December 17, 2024, but Ben Christian, the operations manager, denied me that request and sent me a blank PDI. Fast forward to the pickup date on 3/8. The repair on the trim was poorly done. It looked unfinished, with visible holes and mismatched colors. Tim, the supervisor, admitted that the wrong filler had been used, but the issue was never properly resolved. He also failed to bring the service history of the unit, as I had requested. Instead, Lisa told us we couldn't have it. I have serious doubts about the integrity of this company and their transparency. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and would strongly advise anyone to be cautious when dealing with this business. The lack of professionalism, poor repairs, and refusal to provide basic service history have left me with a lot of trust issues. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The BBB was dismissed as everything has been. They even went as far as saying they gave us 4 new tires on good will. They had to replace them because there were issues with them. Buyers beware.
