Can the bike rack that came on my 2022 Travato handle this bike, or is it too heavy?
User commented on January 5, 2024 8:07 PM
Thank you for your comment. With the weight of the bike being 47 pounds, there should be no issue with storing the bike on the Travato bike rack since it is rated for 100 pounds. One thing to make sure is that the folding bike is properly assembled and locked into place before mounting on the exterior of the Travato. You do not want the bike to be in the folded position and have issues with being mounted on the exterior of the van due to that. Another thing to keep in mind is that one of the advantages of the folding bike is that it can become smaller and fit inside the van. If you have space, this is generally the safest place to keep your bike since it will not be exposed to road, weather, and driving debris. Also, while inside of your van, no one will know it is there and no one will try to steel it. However, the main concern if you are going to put a folding bike on the exterior bike rack is just to make sure that it is properly and securely assembled and not folded up.

We just purchased a 2024 Travato 59k with factory installed bike rack. Currently awaiting delivery of our two "free" e-bikes. With the batteries removed should the rack safely support both bikes with regard to weight limit of rack?

Congratulations on your purchase! The Travato bike rack is rated for 100 pounds, so as long as you stay under that you should be okay. One thing to make sure is that the folding bike is properly assembled and locked into place before mounting on the rack.

Is the Winnebago bike UL approved? EN 15194 (Europe) and UL2849 (USA) are the two bike standards now. At least in New York state and probably nation wide soon, you will not be able to get a repair at a bike store if it does not have that those rating...due to fire insurance.
