5 Great Lifestyle-Focused HIKE 100 FLX Features

Who says you can’t have it all while in a small camper? In this article, we’re going to take a look at some of the less talked about features included and onboard the HIKE 100 FLX that don’t get as much recognition as they deserve. 

1. Infrared/Induction Cooktop

We will start with the infrared/induction cooktop, because who doesn’t like to eat some tasty food while camping? The induction cooktop is one of our most used items for indoor cooking. 

If you haven’t used one of these, it is impressive how fast they heat up and cool down, which makes cooking super-fast and cleanup easy! 

This isn’t new technology, but it is new to some users like us. It is important to note that only certain pots and pans can be used with the infrared cooktop, so make sure you have the right ones before heading out on your next big trip.

The cookware needs to be magnetic stainless steel, cast iron, enameled iron, or nickel for best results. We have found that almost all cookware is now featuring the induction cooktop use. We used ours on the first day we picked up our HIKE 100 FLX and had some tasty tacos at the local campground.

2. JBL Flip Bluetooth Speaker

Ready for some Rock-n-Roll? The included JBL Flip 5 Portable Bluetooth speaker is amazingly clear and has adjustable volume settings for your liking, especially if in a campground. 

The play time on this speaker is amazing. We’ve used it for hours on end without having to recharge. But if a recharge is needed, the HIKE 100 FLX has plenty of USB and USB-C charge ports that can make this happen in a short period of time. 

We definitely use this speaker more than we thought we would. With the Flip being small enough to carry in one hand, you can even pack it in your hiking bag and hit the trails with some tunes. It can be used lying flat, standing on one end, or with the attached lanyard to hang it wherever you want. 

The JBL Flip 5 packs some amazing sound and is easy to use with Bluetooth to your phone. You’re able to adjust the volume from your phone or from the speaker.

3. Shower Shelves for the Wet Bath

Another hidden amenity that comes in handy when you need them are the shower shelves for the wet bath. These can be used for drying wet clothes, swimsuits, shoes, or any other gear when you come inside from a day of fun in the sun. The shelves can also be used for storing towels and toiletry items. 

When we aren’t using the shelves in the wet bath, we store them between the bed platform and mattress. Austin sleeps with a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and he uses one of the shelves at night for it. He slides one of the shelves out from between the bed platform and mattress to create the perfect shelving space for his machine during the night. 

When in a small towable, you learn to use what you have on hand for multiple purposes!

4. Folding Dining Table (in 1316SB)

The HIKE 100 FLX 1316SB comes with a folding dining table that you can utilize between the bench seats. Not only have we used it for its intended purpose inside, but we’ve realized we use it more for outside cookouts and gatherings. 

It creates a spacious place to have food setup when getting to know your camping neighbors and enjoying a meal with them outdoors. We have occasionally used the table outside near the door for cooking on the infrared cooktop while plugged in at the outside receptacle. 

We have also found this table to be very useful for a desk! When on the go and you need a place to work and download content, this table is perfect.

5. Batwing Awning with Outdoor Shower Enclosure

All HIKE 100 FLX models come with a Batwing Awning to use on the non-camp side, and it also covers the rear of the unit. This comes with two top pieces: one for the rear and one for the non-camp side and they can be used in combination with each other or individually. 

The outdoor shower enclosure is also included as part of the Batwing Awning. We have used the outdoor shower while beach camping during the summer. We made a platform to stand on while using the outdoor shower to keep from getting the beach sand back on our feet. 

We have also used the batwing/shower enclosure in a different configuration to create a garage/storage area for our e-bikes to keep them dry. 

The HIKE 100 FLX packs a punch when it comes to having all the amenities that a full-sized towable has. We are truly enjoying every adventure we have!
