December 2019 – February 2020
Marina Point Restaurant, Rio Vista (Dec)
CalWIT State Meeting, Hemet (Jan)
Club Outing, Corning (Feb)
Chardonnay Travelers, CA

The past three months have flown by quickly and the Chardonnay Travelers have kept quite busy.  On Sunday, December 8, the Chardonnay Travelers met at the Marina Point Restaurant in Rio Vista for their annual Christmas Luncheon.  We had 18 members, 1 Honorary Member, & 2 Guests/Past-Members in attendance.    Scott Kenyon, President, conducted a brief club meeting to acknowledge and vote on a new member, Colleen McCabe.  Later, after the meal, Art Schipper, the State CalWIT President, installed our new officers for 2020:  President:  Scott Kenyon, Vice-President:  Fred Bryner, Treasurer:  Carol Kenyon, and Secretary: Gayle Bryner.

To start-off the new year of 2020, several of our members attended the Blythe Bluegrass Festival in Blythe in early January.  They then headed to Hemet, January 23-27, for the CalWIT State Meeting.  The theme of that event was “On the Road Again”.  We had 11 rigs attending the State Meeting.  The Chardonnay Travelers prepared one of the evening dinners for all of the attendees.  The outing included a Beanbag Baseball Tournament, a Shuffleboard Tournament, and card bingo took place at the Golden Village Palms RV Resort.  The State Officers:  Art Schipper: President, Larry Imoe: First V-P, Second V-P: Cheri  Imoe, Secretary: Mary Jehle, and Treasure: Bob Jehle were there to assist with the discussion regarding various State-related issues, club participation, the South West Regional Rally scheduled for April 2020 in Bakersfield, and the upcoming Grand National Rally this summer in Iowa.  There were awards, raffles and opening & closing ceremonies.

In February 13-16, our club met at the Heritage RV Park in Corning.  The theme of this outing was “The Sweetheart Café” to celebrate the Valentine’s Day holiday.  There were 7 rigs attending.  The outing hosts: Fred & Gayle Bryner and Johnnie & Leora Matranga planned a variety of activities for the attendees such as making valentines and a Wedding Picture Gallery Challenge with Valentine awards on the first night.  Though there were a few less willing participants…everyone made at least one valentine for their “special someone.”  They were all great!  The menu included a baked potato bar with toppings, chili, salad, and dessert.  The second night, which was Valentines Day, included a bring-your-own meat to BBQ, with pot-luck vegetables, salad, & bread.  The evening included a “stay-in for the movies” event with sweetheart sundaes, hot chocolate/spiced cider. Saturday night included a “dinner out” at The Green Barn Whiskey Kitchen in nearby Red Bluff, CA.  After everyone returned from dinner, several participated in a game of Left-Right-Center with Valentine Sweetheart Cookie Suckers & Brownies.  Our newest member, Colleen, a first time payer, was the big winner!  Congratulations!   Sunday morning’s Farewell Breakfast included an egg casserole made by host Leora, with muffins, fruit salad and juices.  Then, off we all went after a very busy week end.

A new year of friendship and RV camping is ahead of us!  Please check out our new “2020 Calendar of Events” at the Chardonnay Travelers website, chardonnaytravelers.com.   If you would like to join us anytime this year please contact Scott Kenyon, our President, at [email protected] .  We would love to have you join us!  Happy New Year to All!

Respectfully submitted, Gayle Bryner
Secretary, Chardonnay Travelers
